an awesome mega-benefit gig for the fight against the destruction of Icelandic waters and nature, held at the Laugardalshöll Sportshall in Reykjavik January 7th.. The title of the concert ‘Ertu ad verda natturulaus?’ translates roughly as ‘Are You Loosing Nature?’

TERRA VIVAX
2005
Contradicting elements, such as creation versus destruction, or the latent power of the volcano while asleep versus the tremendous power that the earth expresses through an eruption, these bring to the surface how precarious is the existence of the human being. The word - precarious - may even illustrate the existence of the Earth in the Universe.
The volcano, - the possibility of an eruption. The relevance between geological-time and human-time concepts. Everything that exists does so in a wonderful balance between stability and tension.

The work is made of basalt, that has once flown as lava from the volcano Vesuvius. The sphere rests in balance, but in spite of its massive weight (nine tons) it is easily disturbed. A single person,
can send it gently rocking. On the stone under the sphere are engraved the names of all the volcanoes of the earth that have erupted in historic time.

Location; Creator Vesevo, in the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius, Italy. Material; Vesuvian basalt. Measurements; 144 x 350 x 350 cm.

VOCAL
2005
A multi media installation/ performance created specifically for the Tenth Festival of Sacred Arts in Hallgrim-Church in Reykjavik.

An installation that consisted of several large semitransparent sheets that were arranged in the gigantic nave of the church reached its peak through the transformation into a multi media performance that took place one week after the opening of the event. The work is a sort of integrated improvised happening and multimedia installation, involving, besides the artist herself, the church’s organist Hordur Askelsson, Tjorvi Johannsson (audio) Gudmundur Vignir Karlsson (audio).
A video-work of a huge waterfall is projected onto the layered screen, and “paints” the whole interior of the church. The voice of the same waterfall is sometimes confronted by, sometimes accompanied by the magnificent church organ. A single word is vocalized. The many layers of the audio and the visual create a multi dimensional expression, touching both the intellect and the emotional senses.

WATERFALL - DYNKUR - endangered
2004-5
Wall installation with 12 transparent photographs in Plexiglas frames, and audio.
The work focuses on our consumer-like attitude toward nature. A photograph of a waterfall, one of many in the majestic terrace-waterfall Dynkur, has been cut into 12 parts, each encased in Plexiglas. The recorded sound of the original waterfall can be heard through two sets of headphones. The natural majesty has been broken into small easily consunmable entities.

Measurement of installation 180 x 232 x 8,5 cm., each frame measuring  56 x 56 x 8,5 cm
Exhibited in summer 2005 in Die Ordnung der Natur at the O.K Center for Contemporary Art in Linz, Austria.
