- Time is constant, it continues whether there is anyone to observe it or not, changing and shaping environment and beings. Still, - time is not uniform. Sometimes it is fast, sometimes slow, depending on circumstances, states of minds and environment
TIME Whenever I happened to see crumbling or ruined houses I photographed them.If there was any debris to be found in the remains of these buildings I collected some of it. I had been collecting material in this way for several years before I started seriously working on the installation Time. The material for the artwork was selected from this collection. The photographs were developed directly onto old windowpanes, thus making the images semi-transparent. The pieces of glass measure approximately 90 x 70 cm each. Material: glass, photographs, soot, various objects. Location; the exhibition Bone in a cold Oven at the Nordic Art Center, Sveaborg, Finland, 1986, curated by Maaretta Jaukkuri.
GATE A memorial for missing persons, that will be installed in the Gufunes Cemetery in Reykjavik. The project which is the winning artwork from a closed competition, consists of a kind of a gate, which also functions as a lighthouse in the dark, and a maze that is laid in the pavement surrounding the gate. The design of the maze is based on the ancient maze in the Chartres Cathedral in France. The work is being made of granite and glass and its height will be approximately 310 cm, the circumference approximately 13 x 13 metres. The granite is prepared in China. December 2001. Digital illustration.
